I am an Army Veteran and former 19D, (Cav scout) If you aint Cav, you aint shit! Jkjk. I
was active from 2003-2007 and deployed to Iraq from 2005-2006. During that time, we
were assigned to Mosul, Rawah on the Al Anbar Province, and Sinjar on the Syrian
border. I got out in May of 2007, worked construction for a short time and found my
place in Law Enforcement. I have worked in LE for almost 19 years now. I am also a
member of our county metro search and rescue team. I have been an avid off roader
since I bought my 1991 Cherokee after I returned home from my deployment. I was
stationed at Fort Wainwright Alaska at the time and spent my free time wheeling and
fishing with my brothers.
When I returned home to WA I purchased a 2001 Cherokee and my passion for the
outdoors grew from there. As the years passed the Jeeps got bigger, better and my
passion grew. Over the years I have spent most of my free time exploring trails and
campgrounds in WA, ID, and MT. I have been to Moab, and plan to go again this year
as well as Sand Hallow. I, like most vets came home…...lets say different. I found a lot
of comfort in getting out, breathing fresh air and checking out back roads or sitting
around the campfire with my brothers in arms. It was comforting knowing that they knew
what I had been through. I found this to be very therapeutic.
I recently decided to start this group with the hope of sharing that therapeutic
experience with other vets that may not have the equipment, money, or accessibility to
enjoy these experiences. I reached out and found a great group of guys who were in the
same position as I was and wanted to help. All our guides are combat vets and have
been there and done that. I am honored to be a part of this group and find it rewarding
to assist other vets in enjoying this recreational activity.

My name is Jason Herman. I’m a Marine Corps tanker and Desert Storm combat veteran, now serving as a career firefighter. I believe strongly in the power of shared experiences and time outdoors to support mental health and camaraderie among veterans. I drive a fully capable 2004 Jeep LJ set up for everything from scenic trails to challenging terrain, and I always have room for one more veteran to join me on the trail. If you’re a veteran looking to get outside, connect, and ride along, don’t hesitate to reach out.

I'm a 12 year Army combat medic with 2 stents in Iraq, the first one occurring on my 23rd birthday, March 19 2003. I got out in 2012 and went to school for nursing and ended up in a Neuro/Trauma Critical Care Unit right after graduation. I also run a nonprofit called The Valhalla Flag Project, that ensures veterans that pass in civilian hospitals are given a flag draped Honor Walk. I still hold a place in my heart for my fellow warriors and "doc" looks out for his charges even til the very end.
